Why Birth Work?

Growing up knowing I was delivered by a midwife, birth always seemed normal to me. So when I got pregnant the first time I wasn’t afraid of the experience and trusted that my body could birth as nature intended. Then 6 months into my pregnancy, my cousin gave birth to a son who was shortly diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Sitting in that hospital was eye opening to the life-saving role hospitals can play in the birth experience. Fortunately both of our births while vastly different had happy endings and we both birthed in the way that was best for us and our situation. Helping women find what is best for them when it comes to birth has been my calling ever since.

Why a Doula?

A doula doesn’t deliver your baby. She doesn’t tell you what to do or judge you for the decisions you make. She provides information and education prior to labor so you are prepared to make the decisions best for you no matter what may arise. And on your labor day, a doula is there to make sure you feel like the queen you are. You are the person who calls the shots, and your doula helps facilitate that. What ever you need in that moment, your doula sees to it. What woman doesn’t deserve that kind of pampering on such an important day?
